Based on documentation in the Diplomatic Historical Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, this article aims to examine the work of Italian diplomat Carlo Sforza, who was sent to China as extraordinary envoy and plenipotentiary minister in the spring of 1911 with the task of developing a policy of economic and commercial cooperation.
